Why Venture?

You’re considering mission, but not entirely sure what it would look like. You’re passionate about the gospel and want to gain practical experience of cross-cultural life and ministry. If that sounds like you, Pioneers may be able to help you find a short-term mission role on a long-term team.

As part of our Venture programme, you will:

Spend from two weeks up to a year serving with and learning from a long-term team.
Be mentored by long-term missionaries.
See and experience for yourself what long-term mission is like.
Explore how God can use your skills and passions among the unreached.

A Venture Candidate is...

Aged 18 or over
A local church member and in good standing with the church
Able to provide references from a church leader and two other people – e.g. an employer, a friend, etc.
Able to complete the application process and pre-field training
Able to cover expenses or raise the support needed through their home church and other ministry partners before departure
In agreement with Pioneers' Statement of Faith, Core Values and Venture policies
Able to participate in an orientation before departure and a debrief on return.

Venture placements are particularly popular with:

language students who value spiritual encouragement from our cross-cultural workers while studying their language abroad
medical students who are looking for a short-term medical placement whilst serving the Lord in practical ways

The Process

Everyone's journey is different, but here is an idea of what the Venture process usually looks like:

1. START: Fill out a Start Form
2. EXPLORE: Get to know one of our mission mentors
3. APPLY: Submit an application and references
4. PREPARE: Carry out your personalised training plan
5. GO: Grow and serve on the field for up to two years
6. DEBRIEF: Develop a plan for re-entry and next steps
